Too Many Hurt In This World
By Marie Lee
Too many hurt in this world,
Wounds passed down
From generation to generation.
Chains of sorrow,
Crying of the hearts that are broken,
Longing to be heard,
Longing to be set free.
Every hurt becomes retaliation,
Every pain turns into fear.
Silence hides the struggle,
Thoughts become battles of the mind
Escaping into shadows
Souls are becoming legal drug addicts, prescribed by the System.
Every hurt has its moment,
Every soul cries for help.
Discontent and despair
Bring dishonour,
Bring disrepair.
Human nature
To pretend,
To give in
But every pain is different,
Shaped by the streets,
By the wars,
By the hidden masks of love
That deceive and cannot be trusted.
Pain can move us
To compassion
Or to hate.
But such deception
It was never God's plan.
Human suffering
How can it end
If God is not within?
How can we withstand
The great battle of good and evil
Without His power?
If we understood,
We would see:
The hungry,
The homeless,
The addicted
Their pain is not forever.
Through God, we conquer.
Through prayer,
Through fasting,
Through His Word
And His Spirit within.
Too many hurt in this world!
Have you wondered
Where did it begin?
Have you wondered
When will it end?
The Great Controversy tells us:
How the world began,
How it will end,
How minds will be bound
By deception,
By power,
By control.
Yet through God's Word
Comes awakening,
Freedom,
And peace.
Reflection
This poem is a heartfelt reminder that the brokenness we see around us — whether in pain, addiction, or despair — is not the end of the story. Through Christ, there is healing, freedom, and hope.
“He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.” – Psalm 147:3 (KJV)
